The solution
& objectives
A modular, certifiable and economically viable route to electrify furnaces up to ~1,250 °C.
Solution & Approach
EHEAT will engineer Microwaves modules, Flue gas recirculation hardware, and Microwaves-compatible refractories; qualify sensors and controls; and integrate them in pilots before industrial demonstrations (TRL7) in three sectors.
01
Aluminium
Melting / holding
02
Cement
Calcined-clay production
03
Steel
Reheating / heat-treatment
Demonstrators will operate at production-relevant throughputs, targeting tight temperature uniformity, and 90–95% CO₂-reduction vs. fossil baselines, while preserving product quality and production uptime.

What EHEAT will deliver
To speed replication, EHEAT will deliver:
- InterfacesStandardised mechanical / Electromagnetic compatibility / data interfaces
- OperationsOperator Standard operating procedures and training
- Evidence packsLife cycle Assessment / Life cycle costing / Technology for Enabling Awareness and a Greenhouse gas-avoidance methodology
EHEAT objectives
01
Build a high-performance hybrid heater combining Microwaves heating of flue gas with Auxiliary Natural Gas
02
Integrate & validate the hybrid heater in pilots before industrial demonstration in three sectors : aluminium (melting/holding), calcined-clay production for cement, and steel reheating/heat-treatment.
03
Develop an interoperable, secure, and certifiable digital/control backbone for EHEAT’s hybrid heater
04
Demonstrate EHEAT economic and environmental viability
05
Facilitate the replication by creating and testingstandard operating procedures, safety procedures, training modules, and integration guidelines
